Re: ⚽ Fiorentina v West Ham - 2023 Europa Conference League - Final CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!
Oh so you posted the WRONG final FOUR TIMES....

Then this....

In 1970, the stadium was the venue of the 1970 European Cup Winners' Cup Final which saw Manchester City F.C. beat Górnik Zabrze 2–1. Neil Young and a Francis Lee penalty sealed the win for City. This final was played under torrential rain in what was then an uncovered stadium. This along with the fact no Polish supporters were allowed to travel to the match restricted the attendance, which is variously reported at between 7,900 and 15,000 spectators. Even so, City's travelling support numbered over 4,000 which was a then record for an English club playing on the continent.

Keep it coming marty......UEFA took the cup seriously enough to put in a 50,0000 seater stadium. You want to have a pop at me when you should be at UEFA putting this one in a 20,0000 capacity stadium.

Idiots on here:

'Oh, winning a trophy and qualifying for the Europa League is all very well for the plebs, but I really, really can't bring myself to watch any of that nasty uncultured and vulgar football that we play under Moyes.'

You lot remind me of the most tedious of wine snobs trying to impress each other. 'A cheeky little 4-3-3 but a little impetuous perhaps, Pep.' 'F'nar, f'nar, f'nar - very good Tarquin.'

Wankers.

Yep exactly what I'm thinking Swindon....we should and did win it, but it just made me also think about that Europa League trophy and how close we were and the quality we knocked out. This time we could get to knock out the scousers but it would take a masterstroke from Moyes to move away from his set up.

Now we've got across that winning line we have to make it get bettered seeing as we have a knack in Europe it seems......

Re: ⚽ Fiorentina v West Ham - 2023 Europa Conference League - Final CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!
The fact is, Lazio, Villarreal & Fiorentina would all have fancied their chances to win this competition along with us and it was us that were the one’s that was consistent enough to actually do it.

You also had the 4th best team in Holland (who we beat) and the 3rd best team in Portugal (Braga) in the competition.

Alkmaar best Lazio Home & Away so beating them was never going to be easy.

Villarreal were knocked out by Anderlecht who we beat twice which suggests that being one of the favourites doesn’t automatically mean the games will be straightforward.

Yes there are tougher competitions out there but we still had to live up to being one of the favourites and concentrate on getting the job done. Unlike some of the other favourites like Lazio & Villarreal we did just that and got what we deserved.

COY!

Idiot, that was the final you Idiot, NOT the route to the final.....all the rest were nothing of note....so bad you would have gone mad had we got knocked out by any of them or a loss to any of them prevented us getting to the knockout stage.....that is why UEFA put that final at a 20,000 capacity stadium....

Not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere or not but there's been more official UEFA recognition announced:

* Rice was voted player of the tournament
* Areola, Aguerd, Rice, Paqueta, Bowen and Antonio all made the team of the tournament
* Rice's goal v Gent and Bowen's header v Larnaca were also both voted into the top 10 goals of the tournament.

Everyone needs to remember in other cups or league campaigns we've played teams of note and won. Even in last years Europa we beat Seville wand are the only team to do so and a very well known club in Lyon.....it won't stop me from appreciating what a great night it was but I want it to be a cup run with famous semi final songs or great team goals like the one at Man City in 2006 on the way.

Cup journeys with a bit of scalp taking on the way is a better cup win.....lets not let over 40 years of frustration from winning fuck all stop and the sheer joy of winning something/anything stop our ambition to do better things in better cups.....it will always be the consolation to the cup Moyes had us well on route for which we are so pleased to be in this season....AND we qualified for that as a very good league team.....
